Master Program Graduation

Master of Criminology capable of logical, critical, systematic, and creative thinking in conducting independent research and criminological studies related to crime issues, offenders, crime victims, and social reactions to crime and offenders. This is demonstrated by the ability to write a thesis that formulates solutions to criminality problems in Indonesia, in accordance with the inherent values and norms of the Indonesian nation.

• Able to formulate solutions to criminality problems at national and international levels through activities and development based on scientific principles.
• Able to develop their professional performance, demonstrated by sharp problem analysis, comprehensiveness, or in similar professional fields.

Competencies Related to Law Enforcement Specialization:

Able to analyze crime classification.

Specific Competencies

• Formulate characteristics and classification of offenders (e.g., juvenile delinquency, offender deviation) and crime victims.
• Able to review the latest developments on issues concerning the principles of justice and human rights protection in law enforcement, crime prevention, and control.
• Able to evaluate the effectiveness of the Criminal Justice System process.
• Able to examine community potential and reactions in order to cooperate in supporting law enforcement.

Competencies Related to Journalistic Criminology Specialization:

Able to analyze crime texts.

Specific Competencies

• Able to compose sensationalized crime stories and news.
• Able to review the development of issues regarding crime stories and news in mass media.
• Able to select crime stories and news based on the principles of Newsmaking Criminology.
• Able to formulate principles of morality, ethics, and media law in the creation of crime stories and news.

Competencies Related to Transnational Crime Specialization:

Able to analyze various transnational crimes.

Specific Competencies

• Able to formulate characteristics and classification of perpetrators, networks, organizations, and victims of transnational crime.
• Able to review the latest developments on issues concerning transnational crime.
• Able to examine threats of transnational crime involving Indonesia.
• Able to formulate prevention and control efforts for transnational crime and victim protection.

Competencies Related to Child Protection Specialization:

Able to analyze child issues and child protection.

Specific Competencies

• Able to analyze social phenomena regarding various child protection issues (child protection system and environment that provides protection).
• Able to design research on various child protection issues (child protection system and environment that provides protection to children).
• Able to provide policy recommendations regarding various child protection issues (child protection system and environment that provides protection to children) based on knowledge and skills, and implement protection programs related to policy.

The Master of Criminology Program is a coursework and research program. Courses consist of lectures and research (thesis writing and scientific publications). The study load for the Master of Criminology Program is 46 credits. The study period is scheduled for 4 semesters and can be completed in a minimum of 2 semesters and a maximum of 6 semesters. This study period excludes the student’s right to take academic leave for a maximum of 2 semesters.
