Prof. Drs. Adrianus Eliasta Meliala, M.Si., M.Sc., Ph.D. was born in Sungai Liat, Bangka Regency, Bangka Belitung Islands, on September 28, 1966. He is a criminologist and Professor in the Department of Criminology, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, University of Indonesia (FISIP-UI) since 2006. He obtained his Bachelor’s degree (S-1) in Criminology from the Department of Criminology, FISIP-UI; his Master’s degree (S-2) in Social Psychology from the Social Psychology Division, Faculty of Psychology (FPsi), UI; another Master’s degree (S-2) in Legal & Criminological Psychology from Manchester Metropolitan University, Manchester, United Kingdom; and his Doctoral degree (S-3) in Criminology from the University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia.
Prof. Adrianus was inaugurated as a Professor of Criminology in 2006. He has served as Expert Advisor to the Chief of the Indonesian National Police (2000–2006), Chairman/Member of the Correctional Advisory Board of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia (2011–2021), Commissioner of Kompolnas (2012–2016), Member of the Ombudsman of the Republic of Indonesia (2016–2021), and Adviser for the Partnership for Governance Reform in Indonesia. Dr. Adrianus teaches at the Department of Criminology, FISIP-UI, the School of Strategic and Global Studies, UI, as well as the Police Science College and the Correctional Polytechnic of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia.
